Asians are renowned for their crafty use of indigenous elements for healthcare. These recipes are mostly unknown in the western hemisphere but there’s no denying their potency and effectiveness. People residing outside Asia specially females (including me) have always marveled (and envied) healthy and almost blemish free skin of their Asian counterparts. Speaking about myself specifically, till now I had no inkling about the secrets of their almost flawless skin and resorted to making wild assumptions like “must be something in their air or food”. Looks like someone upstairs sensed my inquisitiveness and sent an Indian family to settle next door to us. After developing a friendly and neighborly rapport with the women of the household, I got down to business and one day asked them to show me some of their jealously guarded skincare secrets! This drew hearty guffaw from the new neighbors and revelation of extraordinary yet amazingly simple techniques. Ubtan for a perfect skin
Ubtan is a vicious yellowish concoction of various household elements that serves as an elite skin care health product. Ubtan has been around for centuries and is still used for skin beautification in Asia. There are various Ubtan recipes used for different skin beautification purposes, the most amazing one that I personally benefitted most from is Almond Ubtan.
Almond Ubtan Preparation
The beauty of these recipes is that you don’t have to procure hard to find items or off the shelf items. All the ingredients required are mostly always present in the kitchen pantry. For this particular Ubtan recipe you’ll need:
Ingredients
• Gram Flour as per requirement• Almond 15 cloves
• Lemon juice 2 table spoon
• Egg white 1
Ground almond into pasty form and mix it with lemon juice and egg white. Add gram flour to this mixture and stir well till a smooth overall consistency is formed; the resultant mixture should look like a fine paste. There you go! Simple yet extremely effective Ubtan recipe. Apply generously to neck and arms and leave on till it dries and begins to cake. Wash it off with tap water or for better results use rose water. The thing to note here is that this brew should be made fresh every time, refrigerated mixture might lose its potency. Regular application of almond Ubtan will provide a radiant glow to your skin and plays an instrumental role in opening pores.
Wash your face with rice Water
Yes, rice water! Sounds ambiguous? Let me clarify. Rice is a staple food item for the Asians. They’ve got numerous ways to prepare it into mouth water dishes. The most surprising thing was when my friend informed me that cloudy white water that is left over after boiling rice is also a very potent elixir for skincare. Just preserve the water after the rice is boiled, let it cool down and then wash your face and hands in it. Regular usage of this technique will give the skin a youthful glow.
Dietary Aspect of attaining healthy skin
“You are what you eat”, this old proverb is also applicable to skin health. Irrespective of the beauty products you use if you are not maintaining a proper diet your skin will start to show signs of getting dull. You don’t have to go to extreme lengths for maintaining a diet just for skincare, all you need is to include a few things to your regular diet regime. Beverages like green tea with cloves, white oolong tea are very beneficial for the liver and have a detox effect on the skin.
